T2-1.jpg34 star United States flag. Seller provided a letter (see below) from a prior owner that states that it is believed that the flag flew in Virginia from late 1850s to 1861 when Virginia seceded from the Union.  It was likely flown over a courthouse building or other official place.
  • Approximately 15' x 25'
  • See photo of provenance
    • "Verbal tradition holds that this flag was flown in Virginia in the late 1850s till April 1861 when Virginia seceded from the Union.  The Flag was forcibly taken down by locals and parts of it removed for souvenirs.  It was kept in a trunk in a home near Danville, VA for years then acquired by a family in Richmond in the 1950s"
  • Oregon is 33rd state admitted to Union on February 14, 1859
  • Kansas is 34th state admitted to Union on January 24, 1861
  • One star appears to be added on later has it has unusual placement and differenet thread.
